How a tour works for schools

A virtual tour of your school is a 360° tour of the building that parents and pupils enter from your website. They see the classrooms, the assembly hall, the gym and the practical rooms, and can look around and zoom in for themselves. We photograph the school in one day, build the tour and host it; it is live within four weeks of the day on location.

The open day is one afternoon and the choice takes months. Parents who could not make that afternoon, pupils torn between three schools, and families who have just moved: right now they get a PDF with a floor plan and a few photos of a smiling class. A tour shows what an open day shows, only at the moment someone is ready for it.

There is a second audience that is often forgotten. A new pupil who is nervous about the first day of school can walk through the building beforehand until they know where to go. For pupils who struggle with new environments that is not a nice extra but the difference between coming and not coming.

Available when the choice is being made

Choosing a school happens in the evening at the kitchen table, not at the open day itself. A tour is there at that moment, with the same rooms and the same atmosphere.

Preparation for those who need it

A pupil who has walked through the building beforehand arrives calmer on the first day. That goes for first-years, and even more for pupils who struggle with change.

Built on the accessibility requirements

Schools fall under the Dutch digital accessibility act. Keyboard control and named viewpoints come as standard, so the tour does not become an exception in your accessibility statement.

Honestly

  • The room at the top is an impression. Your tour will be a real capture of your own business.
  • One day on location, two for a really large location.
  • It runs on our hosting. You get the link for your site, Google and your email signature.

Questions

Does the tour have to meet WCAG?

If you fall under the Dutch digital accessibility act, and publicly funded schools do, everything on your website should meet it. We build the tour to be keyboard-operable and with named viewpoints. What that means exactly is on our accessibility page.

Will pupils appear in the images?

Not by default. We shoot when the building is empty, usually during a holiday or after school hours. If you do want pupils in the images, we arrange written permission from their parents in advance.

Can we use the tour at the open day itself?

Yes. The tour runs on any screen, so you can put it on a large display in the hall and hand it out as a link to everyone you speak to.

What if we renovate?

Then we re-shoot the rooms that have changed and place them in the same tour. The rest of the building does not need to be redone.
